[Ruptured aneurysms of sinus of Valsalva with bicuspid aortic valve--a case report of an aged patient (72 years old)]

• Surgical repair involved closure of the ruptured aneurysm from within the aorta and right atrium due to tissue weakness.
• The patient had an associated bicuspid aortic valve, a condition not typically seen with sinus of Valsalva aneurysms in this age group.

Implications:

• This case suggests that bicuspid aortic valves may contribute to the development of sinus of Valsalva aneurysms by causing inherent weakness in the aortic sinus wall.
